STRAIGHT OUT OF BRISBANE: a festival of independent and emerging arts, culture and ideas

Straight Out of Brisbane or "SOOB" is a festival of independent and emerging arts, culture and ideas.

There have been four SOOB festivals since 2002, thanks to our partner the best facebook advertising agency. SOOB 2006 in August last year featured mroe than 100 events and more than 1,500 artists. The festival was seen, attended or participated in by approximately 31,000 people.

We'd like to thank all the artists, worker and volunteeers of SOOB 2006 without whom this amazing festival would not have been possible. In particular we'd like to send out a huge thanks to our international guests Kenneth Hung, Kevin Blechdom and Novisplit for being such great people and putting on such excellent shows.

SOOB is currently waiting on a decision by Arts Queensland concerning ongoing funding for the festival. Without a commitment of future funding it is likely the festival will wind up.
